Nanotechnology in Industrial Application

Largely without the general public taking notice, a new material has taken hold in the field of nanotechnology: the Organic Nanometal:

A nano-metal: ORMECON®, a trademark now owned by Enthone (CooksonElectronics)..

ORMECON® is a synthetic polymer which displays metallic properties. At the same time it can also function as a catalyst and exhibits many further interesting properties.

Ormecon GmbH - since September 2008 a business of Enthone Inc. - produces its product as a solid with 10 nm sized particles. For industrial application it is usually dispersed in different media, e.g. water, polar and non-polar organic solvents or even in other polymers. The particle size can be varied between 10 and 100 nm depending on application.

In this case, what is generally still considered by the public to be only a vision, has in fact become a reality:

Nanotechnology in industrial use

On Sept 2nd, 2008, Ormecon International was acquired by Enthone Inc (CooksonElectronics). Ormecon products information therefore will be found on www.enthone.com.

This server, www.zipperling.de and www.organic-nanometal.de, will continue to provide science and technology background as well as historic Ormecon information.
